On Social Security disability
I guess it's a sign of the hard economic times that so many people are trying to get social security disability checks. When people can't get a job they hope to profit from any medical problems they have even though they'd rather be working, which means they will probably be denied because Social Security is not a form of unemployment, although a few classes of medical problems (deafness, paraplegia) can treat it that way. That is, they can get checks whenever they want if they're not working. And yet they can work as well. And I was told that a large corporation that got bought out had kept on a large number of disabled people, but they lost their jobs when the company was bought out by a competitor.
