Kills germs but tastes bad
One small detail in the above Joseph McCormick book
relates to a small chapter in my book How to
Protect Yourself and Your Loved Ones From Bird Flu .
A small subchapter is about something most people
probably haven't heard of -- potassium iodide or
SSKI. I have heard of it from an alternative
health guru who mentioned that he knew an
African missionary who used it for years to
sanitize water there and never got sick.
So I listed it as one way to protect yourself from
infections.
McCormick spent a lot of years in Africa, and at
one point in this book does mention what I
presume is potassium iodide (he calls it just
"potassium" but just the mineral would not be
a disinfectant).
He has some water he hopes is safe to drink,
but also hopes it doesn't have any "potassium"
in it, because that makes the water taste bad.
So he agrees that it works -- but since it
tastes bad, it's better not to have to use it.
