bird flu lethality more than dioxin

First things first -- I have great respect for Warren Matthrews and XTend Life supplements. I take those supplements myself, and I recommend them.

That doesn't mean I agree with everything he says about bird flu, however.

See this article from the latest Xtend Life newsletter:

bird flu deaths due to immune system deterioration due to ingested toxins?

I do agree that everyone should have a strong immune system.

I do not believe that the high mortality rate of the 1918 flu among young adults was caused by soldiers being exposed to toxic gases during their training.

The 1918 flu killed millions around the world, from Pacific islanders to Eskimos in Alaska. Not only were these people not soldiers exposed to war toxins, they were living in environments that in 1918 were still close to pristine. That is, before modern industrialization spread pollution throughout the world.

Plus, the death curve of the 1918 flu looks like a W. Young adults who had strong immune systems were hit hard. But so were the very young and the very old, who had undeveloped and weakened (respectively) immune systems.

Where Mr. Matthews argues that the bird flu deaths in Vietnam was due to dioxin in the food chain weakening their immune systems.

I have no doubt that there is a lot of dioxin in Vietnam as a remnant of the Vietnamese War and Agent Orange.

He makes a brief mention that bird flu victims in other countries were also exposed to pollutants that would have weakened their immune system.

Since there're 90 people dead from bird flu outside of Vietnam (and only 42 Vietnamese dead from bird flu), that needs more detail.

The country with the second highest deaths is now Indonesia -- with 41 to date. (Though it will probably soon surpass Vietnam.)

Other countries with bird flu deaths include Cambodia (which could well have dioxin from being next to Vietnam), Egypt, Azerbajian, Turkey and China.

His point about the debate between whether disease is caused by germs or by a poor immune system -- I cover that in my book, How to Protect Yourself and Your Family From Bird Flu.

My short answer is -- both.

However, no matter how strong your immune system, that doesn't mean that you can fight off any number of powerful disease bacteria or viruses. The infecting agent itself does matter. Ebola is a more powerful killer than measles.

All our experience with the bird flu virus H5N1 indicates it's a much more powerful killer than seasonal flu.

And it's simple good sense to avoid it if possible. I also cover that in great detail in my book.

I do absolutely agree with Mr. Matthews that a strong, healthy immune system helps protect you from disease. I believe everybody should be doing all they can to strengthen their immune systems.

That's why I recommend his products so highly.

Our real difference here is that I believe that the potential bird flu pandemic makes taking his products even MORE necessary than he does!

The first XTend Life product you should take is Total Balance, which protects and strengthens your overall health and vitality.

XTend Life also has a protect Viral-Protec that specifically strengthens your immune system.

Everybody should take Total Balance every day for the rest of their lives. You should take Viral-Protec at the very least during your cold/flu season. Or any time you travel. Or any time you know you may be exposed to infectious diseases.

Teachers and health care givers should always take Viral-Protec.

And yes, you should take Viral-Protec if bird flu becomes a contagious pandemic -- no matter what Mr. Matthews says :)
